by Root_Admin

You’ve heard & read about studying in the UK, and want to experience it yourself: ok genius,  let’s help you get that UK Student Visa.

This visa takes about 3 weeks to process from the time you submit your application.

If you are 16 years and over, you need to  meet the following:

  • You’ve been offered a place on a course (gov.uk/student-visa/course)
  • Have enough money to support you and pay for your course (gov.uk/student-visa/money
  • You can communicate in English
  • (If you’re 16/17 years old, you’ll also need parental consent).

Note that this visa will only allow you to be in the UK for up to 5 years for a degree course, or for up to 2 years for a course level that’s below a degree.

Ok, then: let’s get started!

  1. These are the activities that are allowed and not allowed under a student’s visa. You’re allowed:

You are not allowed to:

    • Claim benefits and pensions.
    • Work certain jobs.
    • Be self-employed.
    • Study at an academy or a maintained school.

  1. Have your visa application fee ready. This varies depending on whether you’re already in the UK or applying from outside; are extending your current visa or switching from a different visa type.

  1. Check that you meet the visa requirements.
    • Have a current passport and valid travel documents.
    • Have a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your course provider (university or college etc). (This must be used within 6 months of receiving it.)

You may also be asked to provide the following, so get prepared.

    • Show you have funding to support yourself and to pay for your studies.
    • If your course or nationality requires it, get an ATAS certificate. (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/academic-technology-approval-scheme)
    • If you’re under 18 years, have consent from your parents / guardians.
    • Proof of your relationship with parents / guardians if you’re under 18.
    • TB test results not older than 6 months.
    • If you have received financial sponsorship in the last 12 months, include a written application consent from your sponsor.
    • If you’re applying from outside the UK, you will need to also prove your identity:
      • Provide fingerprints and a photo (biometric information)
      • Download the “UK Immigration: ID Check” APP and scan your application documents onto the APP.

  1. When all requirements are ready, you must apply for your student’s visa online at https://www.gov.uk/student-visa/apply
